Canonical Updates Mozilla-devscripts Tool

Canonical published details about a mozilla-devscripts update for its Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) operating system.

Canonical has released a simple update for packaging tool used for the Thunderbird addons. This update provides an updated mozilla-devscripts which produces packaged addons compatible with the latest Thunderbird packaging.

The update was issued after Mozilla Thunderbird advanced to a new version, fixing some important security vulnerabilities.

Users can get the new package by upgrading the operating systems to the latest mozilla-devscripts, specific to this distribution.

A normal system update, executed with the Update Manager, will implement all the necessary changes. A complete system restart is not necessary, but any locally built Thunderbird addon packages will need to be rebuilt with this version of mozilla-devscripts.

Angry Birds Seasons for Android Updated with 25 New Winter Levels, Download Now

Angry Birds is definitely the most popular franchise for mobile games. Rovio, creators of this highly-acclaimed series, have just announced Angry Birds Seasons have been updated with new seasonal levels.

As expected, the game has been gifted with wintry levels, which will be unlocked gradually, one per day, until Christmas.

There are 25 new levels in this holiday advent calendar, along with a new ice element and winter landscape under the aurora borealis.

There's one small downside, as players will need to have an Internet connection enabled in order to access each new daily level.

The new Angry Birds Seasons 3.1.0 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up. Check it out here.

Half-Life 2 Series and Portal Get Big Picture Update

The development team at Valve is offering all those who are using the new Big Picture mode for the Half-Life 2 series of video games and Portal an update which is designed to offer better support for controller while also eliminating at least one serious crash.

The official patch notes read:
- Added controller menu navigation
- Dual stick controllers are now the default controller layout
- Fixed controller disabling the crosshair
- Fixed some weapons not being selectable with controller for some players
- Fixed file loading crash that affected some players

Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and 2 and Portal are some of the most successful games that Valve has ever created and the company is aiming to give them all the support they need to keep the fan base happy.

God of War: Ascension Beta Sign-Ups Are Now Open

Sony is now giving fans of Kratos a chance to sign-up for the beta stage of God of War: Ascension in order to get a chance to engage with the multiplayer side of the game before the official launch and give the developers feedback on the mechanics.

All those who are interested need to head over to the official beta sign up site and give up their personal information before 12 PM on December 7.

Not all of those who sign-up will be able to get into the beta stage for God of War: Ascension but those who do will get a confirmation e-mail and access to a special PlayStation Network beta page for the game.

God of War: Ascension is the first game in the series which will allow gamers to create their own characters and then join teams that battle for the favor the gods in a number of arenas.

Next Rare Game Targets Xbox 720, Includes Cloud and Kinect Support

Video game developer Rare is hiring a principal network services engineer which is supposed to work on a new project which uses both the Kinect motion tracking system from Microsoft and cloud based technology, which has not yet been used on the Xbox 360.

The job listing says, “Following on from the success of ‘Kinect Sports’ and its recent sequel ‘Kinect Sports: Season Two’, Rare is continuing to push the boundaries of the Kinect hardware with our exciting new project. We’re looking for an experienced and passionate engineer to join us on this journey.”

The fact that the game will be offered on the new Xbox 720 from Microsoft is suggested by another job listing, which talks about an engineer who must work with early prototype hardware and off-site teams.

Neither Microsoft nor Rare have offered comments on the job li stings.

Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD Arrives on Vita December 18, No Cross Buy for PS3 Owners

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD has been confirmed on Vita on December 18. However, the game will only be made available in North America in mid-December, while Europeans will probably get it several days later.

Developers mentioned they will be able to tell Europeans when exactly the game will launch in their region, next week, so stay tuned for more updates on this one.

It is also worth mentioning fans of the genre who already purchased the PS3 version launched on PSN last year, will have to purchase the PS Vita separately. Yep, unfortunately there's no cross-buy for this title, the publisher has confirmed.

According to J.A.W, publishers of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD on Vita, the company is investigating various offers to make the deal more attractive, so don't rule out any discounts on Vita version for those who already own the PS3 game.

Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition Out on Steam, Includes End of Flesh Expansion

Paradox has just published a new and improved version of Swords of the Stars II. Although the improvements are only on the outside, developers hope to attract more customers by offering more content in one package.

Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition includes The Lords of Winter and the first expansion of the game, End of Flesh. Those unfamiliar with this expansion pack should know it introduces a new playable race, the Loa.

It is also worth mentioning the Enhanced Edition of Sword of the Stars II contains all previous DLCs with new avatars, new combat music, alternate voices, skins, as well as new badges for the warships.

Fans of the genre who already purchased the original Sword of the Stars II will be automatically upgraded to the Enhanced Edition. Check it out here.
