Kelsey and Camille Grammer Finally Settle Divorce

It was one of the longest and much mediated celebrity divorces, but the fighting has finally come to an end. Almost 2 years after their divorce was pronounced final, Kelsey and Camille Grammer have reached an agreement.

The two separated in July 2010 and were officially divorced in February 2011. Since then and until just now, they have been fighting over money, assets and child custody.

An agreement has been reached and approved by both parties. It’s already a signed deal, TMZ reports.

“S ources closely connected to the couple tell TMZ the property and custody agreement was hammered out and signed by both Kelsey and Camille. And, it's a long time coming,” the celebrity e-zine writes.

The documents are sealed from the public, so all this is just hearsay.

However, it is a known fact that the two things Kelsey and Camille were most bitter about in the proceedings were money and custody of the kids.

“The former couple fought bitterly over custody and money for nearly 2 years. They have around $60 million [€45.54 million] in assets, which includes 3 homes,” TMZ writes.

“One big victory for Camille – as we first reported, Kelsey had their Beverly Hills home taken off the market so he could live in it and Camille fiercely objected. We've learned under the settlement, the Bev Hills house will now be either sold or leased,” the same report notes.

It’s es timated at about $16 million (€12.1 million).

While they were still fighting over the divorce, both Kelsey and Camille had moved on with their life. He remarried and is now a happy, brand new daddy, while she continued with her career in television.

In a recent interview, Camille revealed that they were no longer on speaking terms and that all contact between them was done by email, through their attorneys because, she claimed, he refused to speak with her.

Revelations Was Inspired by 3DS Port for Resident Evil 5

The inspiration for the 3DS-based Revelations Resident Evil title came during the development process for the spin-off The Mercenaries 3D, when the team working on the game managed to make the older fifth core game in the series to run on the Nintendo-made handheld.

Some players have complained that the game failed to actually be scary, but the developers believe that fear is a difficult feeling to simulate accurately.

Koshi Nakanishi, a developer working at Capcom, told Iwata during one of his development rou ndtables that, “But fear, even as far as emotions go, is difficult. Resident Evil surprises you, somewhat like a haunted mansion, but even though they are seeing the same thing, there are people who get scared and people who don’t.”

Initially, the 3DS port for Resident Evil 5 was designed to just offer a test platform and serve as proof of concept, but the team was so pleased with the result that it created an entire game.

Masachicka Kawata, another producer that was involved with Revelations, adds, “And by making Mercenaries first, I feel like we were able to determine the capabilities of Nintendo 3DS. In terms of it being a developmental challenge, I would say that Mercenaries is the one that’s really pushing it hardware-wise.”

Resident Evil: Revelations was not particularly well received by the fan community.

Capcom was also affected by the recent launch of Resident Ev il 6, which performed worse than expected on launch, and was forced to limit its financial perspectives for the current year.

The game offered three core campaigns and a secret one featuring some of the best-known characters of the bio-terror-powered series, but gamers were unwilling to invest emotion and the game failed to scare the majority once again.

Capcom has not yet announced another entry in the Resident Evil series.

Fan Pressure Is Impeding Day Z Standalone Development

Dean Hall, the man behind the very successful Day Z mod for ArmA 2, has offered some details on the development process for the upcoming standalone version of the game and the way players want to influence the final product.

Speaking on the Day Z Reddit, the developer states, “I know I have been very quiet lately. So this will be really all I’ll say for the moment. I’ve been pretty depressed about the whole situation. From a personal standpoint, this whole “saga” of the development made me seriously question if I wanted to be involved in the industry and I gave serious thought to cutting my losses and not being involved in the project.”

Hall reveals that a medical check-up showed that he has high blood pressure and he believes that it’s not worth giving up his health over the development of one video game.

He adds, “Right now I’m just at home doing bits and pieces on the DayZ development. The rest of the DayZ team is doing the same. I realize that I went back on my word about releasing an update, but went back into my shell for a bit last week, and I’ll come out when the dust is all settled.”

It’s unclear whether Dean Hall is willing to entirely give up his idea of launching a standalone version of Day Z.

The mod for ArmA 2 allows players to start off as survivors, with limited resources, on an island infested with zombies and gives them full freedom when it comes to the ir actions.

Some have banded together in order to scavenge resources and fight off the undead while others have turned into outlaws and are preying on other humans to survive.

Recently, The War Z, which some saw as a rip-off, was banned from sale on Steam.

Modern Malware Blurs the Line Between Cyber Crime and Cyber War

Imperva has released its set of predictions for 2013 and, according to their studies, the number one trend is that “government malware goes commercial.”

Experts believe that just as the technological advancements in military aircraft have influenced commercial aviation, the techniques used in state-sponsored attacks will have a similar impact on modern malware.

“Technologies previously attributed to “state sponsored” attacks are going to become commercialized (or commoditiz ed), further blurring the difference between Cyber Crime and Cyber War,” Imperva noted in its latest report.

Furthermore, “compromised insider” threats – represented by devices affected by modern malware – will become a greater risk factor than malicious insiders.

After monitoring a number of botnets in 2012, researchers have been able to determine the changes we'll likely see in the infection methods.

In the future, cybercrimnals will probably rely on a larger number of hosts that contain more sophisticated malware. They will also make their command and control (C&C) infrastructures larger and more robust.

In one instance, experts noticed that a botnet utilized by a cybercriminal organization to target personal banking accounts could be used to target enterprise systems just as efficiently.

The technologies deployed in existent commercial banking malware can be seamlessly in tegrated into an operation that targets cloud enterprise data.

With more and more organizations relying on a mobile workforce, cloud enterprise data has become more susceptible to compromise.

“Attackers have always followed the path of least resistance. Considering that antivirus has not been effective in preventing infections from modern malware, this trend should surprise no one. Enterprises who fail to adopt a data or file-centric security approach will be caught with their pants down,” the company explained.

“Investing in the right ‘ears and eyes’ to monitor the access of servers, databases and files, to make the detection of such attacks easier.”
