The Voice Pays Touching Tribute to Newtown Victims Video
For the second night in a row, NBC has operated modifications to its usual format to include a tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut over the weekend.
After Saturday Night Live opened with one such tribute, it was time for The Voice to do the same: you can see the touching opening segment in the video above.
Usually, each new show of The Voice kicks off with a performance by the judges, either with each other or with members of their team.
This time, all judges, guests, contestants and even host Carson Daly took to the stage to perform a very emotional cover of “Hallelujah.”
Each member of the choir held up a card with the name of one victim of the shooting, including their age, which, in itself, was perhaps even more touching than the actual song in that it reminded peo ple at home of the victims, who should get all the mentions, instead of the vile killer.
