Microsoft Refuses to Release Windows 8 Sales Figures

Windows 8, the brand new operating system released by Microsoft, is already generally available and, according to company CEO Steve Ballmer, sales numbers are very strong.

Ballmer told The Wall Street Journal that Windows 8 is an impressively attractive product, but he refused to provide accurate stats on the way the new OS performs in various markets.

He however hinted that Windows 8 is sold out in some specific stores, without mentioning their location.

"Numerically there's not really much that's interesting to report. If you were to call the retailers, they would say, 'Hey, off to a very good start.' We're out of stock a lot of places on touch [screen] machines," he said.

Of course, Microsoft has very high expectations when it comes to its new OS and expects to see around 400 million Windows 8 devices out there in less than 9 months.
