Adobe Flash Alternative, Lightspark 0.7.0, Is Released with Tons of Improvements


Lightspark, an LGPLv3 licensed Flash player and browser plugin written in C++/C that runs on Linux and that aims to support Adobe's newer Flash formats and AVM2 virtual machine, is now at version 0.7.0.

After good months of development, the developers of Lightspark have returned with a new version, featuring numerous improvements.

Highlights of Lightspark 0.7.0:

• LZMA compressed SWFs, requiring liblzma, is now supported;
• BitmapData support has been improved;
• Virtual machine performance and memory consumption have been improved;
• ActionScript compatibility has been improved;
• The XML support has been improved;
• Experimental support for bytecode optimization at runtime has been vastly improved;
• ExternalInterface (browser inte gration) support has been added;
• Performance of JPEG loading has been improved.
